The 2023 Key Regulatory Timeline: UK and EU

It’s always good to look forward, especially at the outset of the new year that followed a turbulent 2022 for the markets.

In 2023, ESG initiatives and reporting standards are continuing to implement and embed, and regulation is now progressing within the UK.

We will see the continuing theme of UK-EU divergence, with the UK Governments Edinburgh Reforms, the Financial Services and Markets Bill, and the Brexit Freedoms Bill – the end of 2023 will deliver a clear roadmap of where the UK’s regulatory landscape will end up.

Investor protection is an ongoing theme, with a step-change in the UK market for interacting with retail clients, in the form of the UK Consumer Duty.
